Simplicity Of Love

So, last night, I slept at my usual time of 3 A.M. (I need to get this body clock fixed) Surprisingly, some people were still awake and I had the opportunity to talk to them a little more before dozing off. Little did I know how fast time had come to tell me that I needed to wake up to greet the day with an activity for children in our village community called "Kids Of Our Lord Saturdays"(KOOL Saturdays, cool right? :P ) I had to wake up with the roaring sound of a Formula 1 engine as my faithful and forever reliable alarm. Off I went to my usual stroll to the church. When I got there, I had the task of manning the registration table. Through such task, I have made a few observations with regards to kids and their parents.

One thing that most of  the kids had, was a smile on their face when they greeted us "Good Morning" or a simple smile and "Thank You" while they were getting excited over the fact we were going to give them cookies and free juice! (Yum Yum!) Others were shy to actually say what their name was, but was still curious on what was in store for the day. Indeed, it was going to be a great and fulfilling three hour adventure to start the morning of a lazy college student.

Here is a picture of the kids with their Love Banks

A "Love Bank" is a bank for your candy, or any certain material that you would want to put in it, that symbolizes an act of love that you have done to a person or an act of love that a person that made you feel loved. I couldn't resist smiling to those kids, who were SO focused on designing on their little bank; most importantly, the candy that filled up their simple cups to the brim. You could see in their share circles how much effort they give to tell their different stories in a simple way, but it gets the message across that gives them a simple sweet reward for them to munch and enjoy later on. What's funny is, is that they never quit to find candy to express more of themselves whenever their piles have already been exhausted!

As people of this world, (unless you're from another planet) we would want to love one another. Sometimes, we wouldn't want to even realize that there's a reward for doing so. Regardless, these kids have a simple reminder behind their cute smiles and hyperactive dispositions: It's to love because it gives us a sweet feeling that inspires us to do something better. As a "Kuya" for the day, you would actually feel the innocence and purity that fills their hearts and that makes you realize that one actually needs simplicity in life. Sure, it's easier said than done, but every problem in our life can have a probably solution and even a friend that you can go to around the corner. You just have to open up and find that right person, and find that it's the simple things in life that actually inspires you to be who you are, and to be yourself in the different situations of the day.

These moments of absolutely Cool Saturdays will always have a place in my heart. Sometimes, I wish I never left that room where joy was once shared. But leaving the room symbolically calls us to go out of our space to love different people for who they are, and to spread the sweetness of having a chance to be an inspiration to others while filling up our own Love Banks.

I love you, kids. Stay young and stay bright.

Secrets You Keep

Something I created not too long ago.. One of those times that were..

Sleepless

Tell me,
How different parts of the body
can mimic so much on metaphors
and deep meanings on love and life?

Maybe these questions can tell you
or make you wonder
how I dream to untangle you,
from different bonds of work and stress

Have I ever crossed your mind,
In the midst of the crowd that you allure?
Suddenly thought of a man waiting for you?
So many crossroads of different storybooks
How I wish you would take a stroll upon mine.

Have I ever crossed your mouth,
in the middle of thousands of conversations?
Did you ever want to say a secret?
Simply uttering my name once,
would be music only to my ears on repeat.

Have I ever crossed your heart?
In between those who are in love with you?
Did you know that you already had a heart in your pocket?
I am no good looking man,
but I can offer you a lifetime of warmth and sunshine.

Tell me.
I am dying to know.
